Cooperation Agreement Signed Between the Jewish Religious Union and the Belarusian Peace Foundation
The Jewish Religious Union in the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian Peace Foundation have signed a Cooperation Agreement. The primary goal of the document is to develop partnership between the two organizations in strengthening peace, harmony, and mutual understanding in the country.
About the Belarusian Peace Foundation
The Belarusian Peace Foundation is the oldest peacekeeping public organization in Belarus, the successor to the Soviet Peace Foundation, established on April 27, 1961. Today, the Peace Foundation unites people from all professions and walks of life, of different ages and faiths. Around 200,000 members and over 1 million volunteers take part in its activities.
The Foundation's leadership includes heads of major religious denominations and national ethnic associations of Belarus. 146 branch organizations of the Foundation operate in all regions, districts, and major cities across the country.
The Foundation's work is dedicated to realizing the ideals of peace, friendship, mutual understanding, harmony, mercy, and unity. Among its priorities are caring for war and labor veterans, children's home residents, supporting healthcare institutions, patriotic and creative education of children and youth, as well as preserving the memory of the heroes and victims of the Great Patriotic War.
The Jewish Religious Union – the Fourth Religious Organisation
The Jewish Religious Union has become the fourth religious organization with which the Peace Foundation has signed such an agreement. Previously, similar documents were signed with the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church in Belarus, and the Muslim Religious Association.
Arthur Livshyts, Chairman of the Jewish Religious Union, noted that such agreements are a step towards creating a more peaceful and harmonious society. They emphasize the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in a multinational country where every citizen has the right to freedom of religion and cultural identity.
The signing ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, the Jewish Religious Union, the Chargé d'Affaires of the United Kingdom in Belarus, as well as guests from the United Kingdom.
Behind the signatures on the agreement are living people, ready to listen and hear one another. We are confident that the joint efforts of the parties will bring positive results and become a new step in the development of interfaith relations in Belarus.
